HHS HIGHLIGHTS – JANUARY, 2015

Advanced Media Arts students produced two cross-functional videos involving lip dubbing and video editing with the American College of Sofia media students in Bulgaria.

Broadcasting students are producing news stories out and about in our community, with the first interview being about the new bakery on Diamond Bridge Avenue.

Six art students participated in ArtStart, a program created by the William Paterson University Art Department.  Their work was shown in the Power Arts Gallery.

January was Art Month in the HHS Library Media Center, highlighting the library’s resources in visual arts.  Furthermore, an exhibit of split complementary color scheme was featured in the Library’s Student Art Gallery.

The All-School Spring Musical “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” is cast and in rehearsal mode.  This is a grand undertaking with a 50-member cast, 15-member pit orchestra and a large stage crew.

English II CP students designed “Great Gatsby” board games that integrate knowledge of plot, analysis, character development and literary devices into game play.

Algebra classes navigated the online PARCC tutorial and discussed all of the tools available.

US History AP students are continuing the process of cultivating the necessary skills to be proficient in answering document based questions.  These skills will also be useful for state testing.

Contemporary Issues in the 21st Century students worked on a project revising the criminal justice system and penitentiary system within the United States.

SHARE Club members’ snow shoveling patrol has hit the streets helping out the community during the snow events.

Students in Italian Club organized and held the 4th annual Nutella Day Breakfast on 1/16.

Spanish IV Honors students continue to translate “The Clarion” articles which are posted on the HHS website.

Mr. Frank Reilly, a former graduate and entrepreneur, spoke to the Entrepreneurship and Investment Strategies classes.

Lifeskills students launched their T-Shirt business named “Bear with Me Graphics”.

Kaitlin Salisbury won the Group 1 State Sectional Championship and the Passaic County Championship in the Long Jump.

HHS Bowling and Wrestling Teams competed in the NJSIAA Sectional Playoffs.

Brandon Cruz was named 1st Team All-State North 1 for Boys Soccer.
