            Hawthorne School District - BYOD User Agreement

Any student who wishes to use a personally owned electronic device with the Hawthorne School District must read and sign this agreement, a copy of which will be maintained by the district.

  1. The student takes full responsibility for his or her device. The school is not responsible for the security of the device.

  2. The student is responsible for the proper care of their personal device, including any costs of repair, replacement or any modifications needed to use the device at school.

  3. The school reserves the right to inspect a student’s personal device if there is reason to believe that the student has violated Board policies, administrative procedures, school rules or has engaged in other misconduct while using their personal device.

  4. Violations of any Board policies, administrative procedures or school rules involving a student’s personally owned device may result in consequences described in each school’s code of conduct.

  5. The student must comply with teacher requests to shut down the device or close the screen.

  6. Personal devices shall be charged prior to bringing it to school. Recharging devices is not the responsibility of the school district.

  7. The student may not use the device to record, transmit, or post photos or video of a person or person on campus. Images or video must not be recorded at school or be transmitted or posted at any time without the express permission of a teacher.

  8. Students and other guests to the district’s network must use the guest wireless network. Use of 3G or 4G wireless connections is expressly forbidden while at school.

  As a student, I understand and will abide by this policy and the guidelines it contains. Any violation of district policy or this agreement may result in disciplinary action.


  As a parent, I have reviewed HBOE policy 2361 and this user agreement with my child and we understand our responsibilities and agree to abide by the elements of each.
